My Story
My fascination with plants started in my grandmother’s greenhouse, where I spent hours learning how seedlings turn into thriving greenery. This curiosity turned into a degree in Environmental Horticulture, and I’ve been working with plants professionally for over 15 years.
From community gardens to large-scale urban farming, I’ve seen firsthand how green spaces improve mental health, reduce pollution, and make cities more livable. At Vertgar.com, I combine this passion with research-based advice to help people grow smarter.
The Turning Point
Early in my career, I consulted on a corporate green wall that failed within months because it was designed without the right irrigation system. That experience cemented my belief: beautiful gardens mean nothing if they’re not sustainable.
It pushed me to specialize in plant systems that last, teaching both beginners and professionals the science behind successful vertical gardens.
What I Learned the Hard Way
Plants have personalities — and if you ignore them, they let you know. I’ve learned to respect the needs of each species, from light preferences to root space.
I’ve also discovered that many people get discouraged by early mistakes, so part of my job is giving them the tools — and confidence — to try again.
My Approach Now
I teach a “right plant, right place” philosophy, pairing species with their ideal growing conditions. I focus on eco-friendly methods, low-water systems, and designs that are as kind to the planet as they are to the eyes.
